CLIMBERS I need feed back! While getting battered around by a storm for a few days in a port ledge last year Welder flag t shirts and I came up with a few ideas, some new and some old, for a new porta ledge more suited towards our needs. After returning back to Az I decided to take the ideas from paper and turn them into the real thing using a very talented local aluminum welder and local river supply company, Wet Dreams, to make it happen. Its done now and came out better than I imagined, so I would really appreciate some feed back from other Welder flag amazon. Let me know what you think!
The idea was to make a very bomber mini ledge designed to be hauled flagged most of the time for working hard pitches off the ground and moving fast on in a day missions, the mini ledge would also have an extension to go from 4′ mini mode to 6’3″ full single ledge mode. Welder flag t shirts was to save weight by utilizing dual purpose functionality rather then lighter materials. By having the extension we were able to make 1/4 of the full ledge out of much smaller lighter materials and go with 4 extension straps instead of the typical 6. Because the structural length of the ledge is only 4′ as opposed to 6’+ we could use smaller tubing for this part as well. All the joints are made to be used with optional locking pins, this makes the ledge very stable and quick to adjust while flagging and moving fast. The small anchor arms bar articulates on its own so when it bumps agains and the rock it rotates out of the way and is very easy to set up.
Welder flag t shirts is made out of a strong polyester mesh to lighten things as well as provide less wind resistance while being flagged and to give it the southwest saddle blanket look most importantly. The mesh floor will also sieve water in a storm and allow for cooling up drafts to come threw in the heat. Phish made a mesh floor ledge at one time, its sweet! The floor tensioning straps are on the bottom to provide a seamless joint to the extension and no buckles in your back while sleeping. The 4 suspension straps terminate into a swivel for the main attachment. The head side straps are fixed in the swivel, the feet side straps are in a carabiner into the swivel, this allows you to easily separate them and clip them to the out side points of the anchor to open up room while belaying and make the ledge very stable, this also makes untangling very easy when I Drink The Coffee. The swivel also acts as your haul swivel. This is the first time i’ve ever taken an idea from paper to the real deal so I would love to hear what other climbers think give me your criticisms.
