Word of the Day (by request): “Viking Dad The Man The Myth The Legend shirt, noun, One belonging to the pirate crews from among the Northmen who plundered the coasts of Europe in the 8th to 10th centuries; a sea rover, Viking Dad is sometimes confounded with sea king.” It appears from this definition that those compiling this dictionary did not have a great deal of information to create this definition. This definition is just part of the viking mythology. See below.
Saturday, I took my two mares, Nor-Fin’s Ellen (Bella) and Fia vom Oderhaff to the inaugural Viking Dad The Man The Myth The Legend tees Festival in Manassas, VA. The mares spent the day grazing down the lawn in their 16×24 enclosure and delighting the crowds, young and old. Here’s a link to the news article. Although they are incorrectly identified as Icies in the text, the caption on the photo gets it right. White Cross and Roots was a lot of fun and the exhibits were very interesting.
It looks as though one of my duties 36 hours from now will be to write to the 26 people who have pledged funds to this project, telling them that not enough people cared about it for the project to be funded. That will include quite a few people who’ve “Viking Dad The Man The Myth The Legend v necks” it, written to say how excited they are about it, or gushed that they have “You Fools Amazon“…but didn’t do anything to help fund it. At this point, with 36 hours to go, it’s only 46% funded, which is a pity, because there’s a high probability it would have had truly interesting outcomes, but it’s at just that level of funding that’s too much to pay for out-of-pocket, and not large enough to justify writing a major grant to NSF, SSHRC, etc., so it will probably go into the dustbin. I am so very thankful I was able to raise Jaqlyn Steinberger on the back of a horse!! So many qualities that make her her the incredible woman she is today-she learned and earned on or beside a horse, (well mostly on or beside….sometimes horses were ahead or on top.
