This is definitely going to lower the show’s audience count. Now that they have started killing off the main characters (Glenn last season) they are giving us less and less of a reason to watch. Maybe they can show the bite didn’t penetrate the skin and bring him back. They really need to do something and bring Carl back.
Make the zombies the villain again! Don’t go for the irony that the people are worse than the monsters. This is what killed Terra Nova. You had Dinosaurs and lasers and people running and screaming. Viewers feel icky when they feel like PREY. That was the appeal of Jurassic Park. It was all you needed, but in Terra Nova all you saw was politics and mystery. We’re getting to that point. Right now Zombies are an easy secondary danger, and that’s stupid. The problem is just like TV superhero shows — ANYTHING but the super hero. That’s the formula. We’re “real writers” and we can fool these zombie-liking idiots into watching our drama! This is like a sitcom, only it’s sit-horror. The situation has been taken away and replaced with sit-politics. Be creative with zombie dangers. All they need to do to get the magic back is get the SITUATION back: “how are we going to survive when we’re outnumbered 5000 to 1 (according to the comic) by all these zombies?
Winters: Slow the zombies down in winters. They are easy to cull, ignorable — but a sudden warm day and you’re in trouble. I’ve been waiting for winter episodes. Never came. The zombies would be MUCH creepier to me if many were blind or had very bad cataracts. Humans could sneak among them, not knowing which were decayed enough to lose sight or hearing. The more decayed they get, their senses can’t possibly work, but the shufflers could stull be a danger because once they touch you, they know you’re food.
